Wellbeing Fridays -
Gwener gwellhad
At Haverfordwest High VC School we fully recognise the importance of looking after our emotional health and well-being. That is why, our pupils are offered the opportunity to leave early on a Friday afternoon to pursue their own hobbies and interests, or to stay and participate in one of the activities we have on offer at school. All sessions are open to all genders. Most activities are on the school site and will start at 2.00pm and finish at 3.15pm. If there are any differences in time, location, or start date, they will be outlined below.
What activities are on offer?
Parkour
Parkour is the primarily non-competitive physical discipline of training to move freely over and through any terrain using only the abilities of the body, principally through running, jumping, climbing and quadrupedal movement. It focuses on developing the fundamental attributes required for movement, which include functional strength and fitness, balance, spatial awareness, agility, coordination, precision, control and creative vision.
The club will finish at 3:15.
Cricket
Tennis will help your child improve their balance, speed and even concentration. Your child will also learn about respect, teamwork, and fair play as they develop their tennis skills.
Golf
Come and try golf! These sessions will introduce pupils to the basic techniques of golf in a relaxed, fun environment. The sessions take place at the Haverfordwest Golf Club
Meet behind the heller-up at 1:45. This club will finish at 3:15 and pupils will be brought back to HHVCS.
Tennis
Tennis can help improve balance, speed and even concentration, so why not give it a try? Pupils will also learn about respect, teamwork, and fair play as they develop their tennis skills.
Meet in the Sports Hall at 2pm and don't forget your kit! The club will finish at 3:15.
Minecraft Club
Would you like to be involved in a huge community build? We are looking to build our new school in Minecraft, are you up for the challenge?
Meet in MC10 at 2pm. The club will finish at 3:15.
Football - 4G Pitch
An opportunity to practise your football skills, have fun and get fit!
This activity will take place every week.
Meet on the 4G Pitch at 2pm and don't forget your kit! The session will finish at 3:15.
Cooking Club
We are offering students the opportunity to learn how to cook some delicious meals and deserts. Students will need to bring their own container with them each week in order to take home their delicious creations.
Meet in food tech room D2 at 1:45pm. The club will finish at 3:15.
How do I sign up?
Parents/Carers will be able to sign up via Parent Mail and will be sent notification of how and when they are able to do this before the start of each half term.
What commitment am I making by signing up?
Signing up means that students are committed to attend the chosen activity for the full half term. For example, if students have chosen a Cooking activity, they must attend Cooking each Friday during that half term. Students are not permitted to swap activities without seeking permission from the staff in charge of Wellbeing Friday in reception.
We have a duty to make sure everyone is safe and accounted for at school – as a result, a weekly register will be taken by the providers. If students can’t attend a session, the usual attendance procedures apply. Alternatively parents could email wellbeingfridays@haverfordwesthigh.co.uk or if it is urgent please ring reception.
This way, we will know where students are and that they are safe if they have not attended the planned activity. As such it is important that the student turn up on time so they are not marked as absence on the register. Students will need to make their own arrangements home.
